This character analysis shows how the show depicts Squidward's character. Here are a few of his most significant qualities. If you haven't watched the show yet, there are plenty of clips you can watch for character analysis.

One of Squidward's most memorable moments is in the episode "Dying For Pie." In the story, Squidward believes that SpongeBob is going to die and tries to make his last hours meaningful. He pretends to hate SpongeBob, but actually wants to make him happy. As a result, Squidward becomes a very relatable character. However, not all fans agree with Squidward. Some view him as arrogant and selfish.

While Spongebob is a happy and upbeat character, Squidward's personality is a complete opposite. He shuts out Spongebob, who loves him dearly. In addition to being a more mature character, Squidward doesn't play around with Patrick. Instead, he constantly yells at him, causing him to lose his temper and become a miserable, whiny character.

Another example of Squidward's NPD is his obsession with art. In "Keep Bikini Bottom Beautiful," Squidward is given eight tickets to perform community service. He then goes to jail for "loitering". After he gets a week in jail, he goes to jail again and humiliates SpongeBob in the episode "Sentimental Sponge". Despite his good nature, he still can't maintain a healthy friendship with SpongeBob, and he ends up throwing him out.

Squidward is the antagonist of SpongeBob SquarePants. He lives in a moai that looks like an Easter Island head. Although he's a grumpy character and has many unlikable traits, he nevertheless has his moments of humor. Squidward's behavior often reflects his unappealing and egotistical personality. Squidward is a great example of a secondary protagonist in SpongeBob SquarePants.
