APPLICATION FOR A SALES GRADUATE TRAINEE

Upon graduation from San Jose State University, the entry level job position that I would like to attain is in medium to large scale company, particularly in a sales job. With a marketing degree, one can get a job in either sales department or in marketing department. For a career, I would like to start in sales and then progress to marketing after three years. I would like to obtain a job in selling of data storage products. If I will not be able to secure a job in data storage companies, I would like to obtain a job in other companies that deal with tangible products such as such as electronics, furniture, or any other products, but not in the selling of services such as insurance and banking products. I’m planning to apply for a job in Info trend as soon as I complete my bachelor’s degree program in marketing.

My main prospective employers include Infortrend Technologies, Dell, IBM, EMC, HP, and NetApp. Due to the high rate of unemployment in the country as at the moment, securing a job in these companies is not easy; therefore, I will have to look for people to help me connect me with these companies. One of the potential people to help me to connect with such companies is the Dean, school of business in San Jose State University, this is because the university has a memorandum with companies such as Infortrend and IBM to employ two students in the department of business who scores first class honors, and of course who meet other requirements for the job as described by the company; this will favor me because I have been scoring “As” throughout from first year, and hence there is a high probability I will be awarded with a first class honors degree.

According to the requirements of the job, I’m suited because the job requires a person with outstanding organizational skills, a person who is driven and committed to achieve high success while maintaining high integrity, a person with exceptional presentation and communication skills, ability to prioritize high value tasks and to work under high pressure, and a person with ability to make innovations and implement change successfully. I possess all these skills, and therefore, I will comfortably work in this company if I obtain this job.

Sales and marketing has been my passion since I was in high school. Thus, besides the degree which I will obtain soon, I also have a professional qualification in marketing from ICM. I started getting interested in working with data storage companies while in my first year in the university; thus I equipped myself with a certificate in information technology and software applications. I’m not, however, interested in becoming a software engineer but a sales person and a marketer. The knowledge in information technology and software applications will help me in demonstrating product usage to the customers. If I will not be able to secure a paid job from these companies immediately after graduation, I will at least apply for an unpaid internship, which will help me to demonstrate my competence, and obtain necessary job connections.
