Hire a WriterWhen a person becomes a Christian he or she denounces the sinful life and becomes a new being. They are saved by Jesus and the Holy Spirit fills their life. However, to accept salvation, people must open their hearts to receive Jesus and inherit the kingdom of God. The short story "Salvation" by Langston Huges highlights that faith is essential for salvation.
Faith in Christianity implies believing without seeing When people have faith in God, they believe that Jesus Christ is in their lives without seeing Him physically. Saved people believe that Jesus is with them and feel his presence without having a physical encounter with him. He had heard stories about Jesus in other people's lives and he was eager to see Jesus (Huges par. 2). When he attended church, he was waiting for Jesus to show up and Langston would receive him then. In the end, Langston did not see Jesus physically and he could not believe that Jesus exists. Although Langston deceived everyone in church that he had received Jesus, he was not saved. He did not believe he had seen Jesus.
For a person to be saved they must confess that they have received Jesus. They should indicate that they allow Jesus in their lives. Those children who were saved on that day, they did not confess that they have seen Christ. They deceived everybody in the church. Westley and Langston got tired of sitting and attracting attention in church and went to be saved (Huges par. 5-9). Although people prayed for the children, they were not really saved as they did not receive Jesus in their lives. For one to be saved, they must confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior in their lives.
