Technology is an essential component of Domino's Pizza operations. In the last decade, the corporation's investment in its consumers' digital experiences has reenergized the company, allowing it to become profitable again. Because IT has become the firm's largest department as a result of the organizational transformation, it is critical to examine the IT risks that the company confronts at each location and evaluate the effectiveness of any controls in place. As a result, this paper will evaluate the IT resources used at each and every Domino's site, as well as assess any associated hazards and explore solutions to resolve them. IT resources that are characteristic of Domino’s Pizza are "mobile applications on all platforms, a responsive website, easy click ordering system, and pizza tracker which is even available on smartwatches thus making it easier for customers to order" (Dominos.com). The incorporation of information technology into the company’s operations was meant not only to provide a better ordering experience but also to facilitate the transparency of the Domino's brand.

Risks and Controls

Since everything is handled through the company's information technology infrastructure, there are a couple of risks that are apparent. The first risk is the infiltration of user profiles by hackers thus disrupting operations at a location. The company has put in place controls in the form of alpha-numeric passwords which must have at least 5 characters. This control could be strengthened by requiring users to use special characters in their profile passwords. This poses a medium risk and the controls are sufficiently effective in preventing such a risk. Another risk is the loss of important data in case of a disaster. Domino's Pizza has no comprehensive disaster recovery plan. However, all locations are required to back up their data on a weekly basis. The potential impact of this risk on the operations of a location is very high. The organization should, therefore, develop and test a comprehensive recovery plan.
