Immigration Laws Research Essay

In order to give the State control over immigration problems, the Congress approved changes to the United States' immigration laws. These concerns include free entry and exit for travelers across boundaries, selection of those admitted, length of stay, and expected departure dates. (Iyer, Kaanita et al.). The Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA), which is a part of the United States Code's Article 8, lays the groundwork for immigration legislation and details its modifications. Visa processing is impacted by recent immigration legislation changes. These changes in the United States law regarding the issuance of visas have reduced the amount of time needed to get a permit. Despite the visa processing improvements, delays will always occur because of the different processing time. The state aims at delivering visas in not more than 30 days from the time of application (Gamez, Nora). However, permits requiring administrative processing are required to take a maximum of 60 days because the timing will depend on the individual circumstances of each case. Individuals who plan to visit the United States should prepare for the visa interview before the date of departure to avoid inconveniences.

I think the reformed immigration laws will reduce the congestion that is experienced in the visa departments. Moreover, the rules will enhance fast application and processing of the visas. The United States will also be able to regulate the number of people who migrate to the State. Additionally, these laws will put off the illegal immigrants who migrate to the United States for the wrong reasons. In my opinion, the nation's security will be enhanced since the government will have data about all people residing in the nation. In conclusion, the amended immigration laws help improve the welfare of the immigrants and the citizens of United States.
