Hire a WriterThe creation, distribution, cultivation, and sale of substances that are subject to drug prohibition laws all fall under the umbrella of the criminal commerce known as "narcotic tracing." A number of variables, including high young unemployment, poverty, and corruption, contribute to the rise in drug trafficking cases worldwide (Chin, 2015).
While illegal drugs are sold everywhere, they are only grown in a small number of nations. Social, economic, political, and environmental variables all support drug trafficking. Despite the fact that illicit drugs are illegal they have become integrated into various countries culture and is being taken as a recreational activity by a section of the population. The world continues to witness a rising demand for the illicit drug a factor that creates a deficit. The deficit means that prices rise a factor that an acts a motivation to drug trafficking. In the United States, most of the illicit narcotic drug come from Mexico. It is estimated that a profit of about 10 billion that drug cartel receives that comes from the United States (Rovner, 2009). In certain countries, the prisons are under-regulated, understaffed, and underfunded which leads to the formation of prison gangs that are responsible for smuggling weapons/firearms that are essential to running the business.
Corruption is also a factor that contributes to the rising dependency on drugs. Some of the corruption cases witnessed in certain countries had been a significant cause that propagates drug trafficking across borders (Chin, 2015). The loose regulations over the transportation of drugs and failure to prosecute certain gangs and drug traffickers have resulted in an increase in the drug industry around the world. The presence of drug barons in various countries has undermined the national authorities and reduced the power of the law enforcement officers. Lack of prosecution and inability to prosecute drug trafficker has created a booming illegal drug business.
The permeability between economies of various nations has been a factor that contributes to the rising cases of drug trafficking. The link between national economies and the criminals has become a major concern at present. In various economies, most youths are unemployed, a factor that drives them to engage in drug trafficking as the only source of employment. Some of the countries seem to benefit from the drug trafficking because profits generated from the illegal trade are reinvested in the local communities (Rovner, 2009). Such profit contributes to healthcare and education in the local community. The society seems to be accepting drug trafficking to be viable based on the benefits it generates. While the cartels bring hazard and violence to the community, they provide income and create jobs for the members of the community. Financial gains have also contributed to the rising number of females in this illegal business. Females from all social classes have become involved in this business because of the outside pressure from the economic and social environment.
The government should be more strategic in its fight against drug trafficking. The possible solution to ending drug trafficking is empowering the citizens economically so that they remain engaged and do not engage in criminal activities and having stronger border controls. The airports should also have the stronger technology to detect any drugs.
