The Advantages of Alcohol Habits in the Mediterranean Diet

The following are some alcohol habits that are advantageous for the Mediterranean diet. First, the practice of regularly consuming a moderate amount of red wine after substantial meals (Anderson and Sparling, 2014). The scientists also point out that preventing alcohol addiction in people is advantageous because it thwarts the emergence of any ailments that may be caused by consuming too much alcohol. Additionally, since alcohol encourages people to eat more, drinking in public places is likely to make people more hungry (Anderson and Sparling, 2014). The scientists further stress that drinking alcohol after meals benefits people's health by lowering their risk of suffering from cardiovascular illnesses. Similarly, Lolli, Serianni, Golder and Fegiz (1958) outline that the practice of taking alcohol on regular basis increases individuals' level of ingestion of total fluids over several generations. The authors also note that drinking increases after eating meals increases the oxidation rate of the foods that individuals consume thus enhancing their physiological processes. Another beneficial alcohol practice is drinking together with friends or family as it enhances social cohesion by bringing family together to share the drinks (Lolli et al. 1958).

My Approach to Alcohol Habits

I would follow the above mentioned alcohol practices because they improve human health as well as social interaction in one way or another. For instance the idea of drinking red wine after meals moderately, sounds very beneficial than not drinking as it boosts the amount of minerals that one takes in during a meal. Also, I would follow the practice of preventing excessive consumption of alcohol because it would lead to health complications such as diseases as well as destruction of interpersonal relationships.
