This semester's courses

This semester's courses have been excellent. The instructor was able to make it to every lesson. I was able to make a few friends in class, and we worked on projects together. We also formed groups where we talked about the various subjects that were covered in class. The discussion group, in which every person took part, was also very good. There were complaints about some students not showing up for the talk in other groups. As a result, only a small portion of the students in these groups actually completed the tasks. I made it to every lesson and made sure I never arrived late. The experience I gathered in this class was better than any other lecture this semester.

The lectures in this semester

The lectures in this semester have had few activities compared to the last semester. One of the activities that we have managed to carry during this semester is holding a discussion in class. The discussion has helped me to be confident among other students. Initially, I could not stand in front of the students presenting a particular discussion or argument. After that discussion, I gained the confidence to debate with other students. The lecturer had requested us to read further on the topics given. I visited the city's library and managed to find a few books that were helpful to me. Generally, this class was the best compared to other classes during this semester. The students and the lecturer made it interesting.

One of the skills I gained

One of the skills that I gained over the course of this class is working in groups. Initially, I hated working with other people. Most of the groups that I had participated in had students that were not active. As such, I ended up working on most of the projects with a few students. However, the group that I participated in this semester was exceptional and we worked together as a single unit. I learned that working as a group requires a person to be strong and act as a leader so that you can get everyone to attend the discussions. Through the lectured, I learned to believe that success is not easily achieved. Currently, my belief is that for one to be exceptional in class, one ought to study hard, attend class always, be determined to achieve the highest marks, and ensure that you participate in group discussions. The experience this semester taught me these beliefs which I am sure will help me be an exemplary student.

My ability to write fluent English

My ability to write fluent English has improved greatly after attending this class. The range of my vocabulary has also improved. Initially, I had a small range of vocabularies and as such, I had issues writing an exemplary essay with proper vocabularies. Conversely, I have improved in terms of point delivery. I no longer stray from the main point when writing an essay. It is easier for me now to write a good essay while at the same time discussing all the points that are needed. I am continuing to learn ways of delivering my points effectively. I believe the process does not end and a person needs to continue looking at ways to improve. I have also improved during debates as a result of my improved vocabularies. This has been helped by taking part in various group discussions during the semester. By the end of the year, I believe I will be fluent both in terms of point delivery in writing an essay as well as when debating with other students. The ability will help me in the future in my career.

My perceptions about school generally

My perceptions about school generally have changed. For instance, I have learned that school is not about getting a good grade. School involves a person understanding the basics of life. For instance, there are many challenges in schools which an individual has to overcome. In life, there are also challenges that people need to overcome so that they can succeed in their professions. It can be identified that school is among the places a person learn to overcome problems without the help of the parents or guardians. My perception, therefore, has changed to always try to overcome a challenge individually first before trying to get help from other people. There are some challenges that need a group to overcome it. The main problem is trying to know the difference. I believe that by the end of the semester, I will have learned to know the difference. My perception about group work has also changed. I have accepted that not everyone will participate. I will make the best out of the few students who we will participate in the group work.

Through the semester

Through the semester, I have undergone many changes. One of the changes that I have undergone through is learning how to work with other people. In my later life, working with other people will not be an option. I will have to know the strengths and weaknesses of the people I will be working with. By understanding such differences, I will be able to work with different people peacefully thereby improving my overall productivity in the workplace. The semester has also taught me to be confident especially in debates. I will apply this in my later years in life. For instance, I will be confident during my presentations, especially in board meetings. Answering questions from the stakeholders will also be easy if I continue with my experience now. I am slowly learning to be a leader, especially during group sessions. Being a leader now will develop my overall leadership capabilities. I will ensure I develop it further so that one time I can be a leader in the workplace leading to a promotion in the workplace.

In my weekly readings

In my weekly readings, I learned about the state of the world currently. I have learned how data and computer security is one of the sensitive topics in the world right now. Data breach is a big issue, especially for big companies. For instance, I have learned that data can be used to overcome cyber-attacks. Currently, there are many cyber-crimes happening worldwide. With technological advancement, this issue will continue to exist. However, artificial intelligence is helping thwart such problems, especially in the US Navy. The weekly readings helped me to know that sharing of personal information online is dangerous. A person can access such information easily. Many people do not know what is happening in the world because of ignorance. The weekly reading showed me what I had been missing and how ignorant I was to the issues happening in the world. People should keep up to date with current news.
