China and India: A Comparison

China and Indian are both populous nations and are located in Asia. The two countries achieved individual civilization that dates back 5000 years ago. India and China suffered colonial rule and invasions. They earned true independence in the 1940s, and both governments endorsed peaceful coexistence. The moral values in the two countries are similar such as the belief in Shaolin Kung Fu and the Monkey King. They endorse similar family values of respect and honesty. They embrace peace as portrayed in their movies.

Economic Differences

China began its industrialization ahead of India and is more economically stable than India. China's economic strategy focused on the services industry while India is yet to achieve such a step. China's high population provided cheap and ready labor. On the other hand, India's manufacturing sector is still developing. While China did eradicate most of its old structures such as landlords and the literati, India has never had a social revolution. Therefore, the class system is more pronounced in India than it is in China. China's government has no checks and balances that is the case in India.

Geographical Influences

Geography profoundly impacted the development of India and China. Chinese geography is diverse, and China has diverse land. Its dense population meant active and affordable labor. China is endowed with the Tibetan Plateau, high river valleys, river and coastal plains that are favorable for income-generating activities. It is easily accessible to investors and makes transportation of products easier. On the other hand, India has the Himalayan Mountain that separates it from the rest of Asia. These features help India to avoid invasion and immigration. The rivers promote irrigation, which in turn boosts the economy.
