Hire a WriterIn his day, Aaron Burr was a controversial political figure, given that he was the United States' third vice-president. His almost never-ending sagas provide a great insight into the essence of the early nineteenth-century political system. Burr ultimately ended up with the disputes, and his political career faltered. I have often been fascinated by his efforts to establish a sovereign nation in the Southwestern United States because of his reason for wanting to cultivate the land. The duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton which resulted in the latter murdering the latter is one of the most popular personal engagements in American politics. The impact of this event on Burr’s political career was also damaging and contributed to the eventual collapse of his political career. In what seemingly appears to be an error of judgment, his endorsement of Gen. James Wilkinson ended up costing the United States the War of 1812. Aaron Burr’s political career is riddled with high-profile miscalculations that destroyed him in the end.
Economic Changes
The social role of the father has surely changed over the years, but the Industrial Revolution was, according to me, the turning point. Before the Industrial Revolution, the distinction between home life and work was blurred with fathers spending most of their time at home since the United States was by large still an agricultural economy. The father could, therefore, effectively fulfill his role as a disciplinarian and role model in the family. The onset of the Industrial Revolution which was characterized by most males working in factories meant that the father was no longer available to play the roles he did so well before. I find this interesting because it mirrors what is happening in the modern world. The only difference is that today’s version is worse with both parents being unavailable for their kids due to professional commitments. This has a negative effect on the development of children who lack proper guidance and discipline from their parents. The Industrial Revolution context ended up in mothers taking a more proactive approach to the discipline of their children.
Educators
Education plays a key role in the moral, social, and economic interests of the society. As such, it was always an area of key concern since the inception of the nation. However, the approach was not always as it is at the moment. The common school system came up and grew to be the very essence of the American way of life. The early approach towards education is definitely an interesting aspect of the subject matter. Parents were personally responsible for the education of their children. Avenues of family and church were the key to the education of children then. This is a great approach to teaching morals, but it was definitely deficient in terms of achieving a well-educated population. This is because this system only favored the economic elite who could even afford private schools at the time. However, it neither benefited the public nor was it ideal for the health and survival of the emerging nation. The Common School Movement played a great role in helping improve general literacy among the members of the public. The success of the system is illustrated by the fact that it is still the dominant system today.
