A Company's Location and Its Impact

A company's location has a significant impact on its current and future success in a variety of ways. Where the location is easy to find, the business may have more consumers because they do not have to battle to find it; otherwise, where the firm does not situate itself correctly, many individuals may not have the opportunity to get there ("McDonald's Franchise Location Requirements," 2017). According to McDonald's, there are a variety of location characteristics that they evaluate before shifting to each new site to reduce loss and to improve ease of finding. The elements, however, can get used by many other companies to help in their success in the future as well as in the time of settling.

Location Characteristics and Business Operation

Most of the characteristics of location that MacDonald’s have noted affect the business operation mostly in the delivery of services, taking in the American IT solutions company, the location concepts will get applied to it if it decides to move to a new location in another country (Wisner, Tan & Leong, 2016). To start with, the American IT solutions company provides computer maintenance as well as repair services for different organizations and individuals. Its location in a new country would have an impact on its success in issuing more services. For instance, if the company decided to shift to the Australian nation, then it has first to get the specific requirements for where its services will get offered. Having in mind that Australia remains as a vast country, then the locations should stay close to each other, for example, according to MacDonald the difference in area between two different service branches should not remain more than 50,000 square feet. This distance would mean that customers can easily find a site anywhere they move to and hence can have a chance of getting services easily.

Considerations for Space and Parking

Also, the company should always consider the available space in the location of settling, so that they can have more space for services like ample parking. Customers would like to have their vehicles correctly parked in the right area of not crowding much as well as an easier way of getting out without complications. Also, the parking should always follow the set local parking codes for more enhanced services. In the new country, the company should locate a corner location since it has a range of options (Kawamura, 2012). These options include the ability to put signs like the billboards that will get readily visible to the customers from two major cities. In most corners, there exist traffic signals and hence many people will have some time to look at the signs and locate the place quickly, this aspect would also highly promote the business.

Size and Shape as Key Factors

The size and the shape of the location should also remain as a significant factor in determining an excellent location. The size of the site means that the place has to stay with ample space depending on whether the project services will be small or large. A sizeable area promotes more expansion in the future to cater to more functions as well as the excellent shape of the location. The aspect of the shape and size remains mostly considered in areas of shopping malls, airports, as well as downtown locations where the services may stay high on demand and hence more expansion may be needed and other customer services.
